I'm So Excited!

I am very excited! I have sold several items on Ebay and have bids on some of my auctions. There is an excitement when you get a customer's order ready and knowing that you are sending off something great. I put some items on Ebay just to see if they would sell, and I really thought that I wouldn't sell very much. But actually the opposite is the case. People really seem to like my items that I make and that is an awesome feeling! I am so happy! :D

Hang tags!

I just reciently got into making hang tags. I originally started making them to hang off our own prouducts we made. But I started to think that they look pretty good, so I decided to sell them. Jewelry Making Essentials

Ok so you want to get into making jewelry but you might be asking yourself "what do I need?". That is very understandable because there are lots and LOTS of jewelry making stuff out there and just thinking about it all can get your head spinning with confusion. So I've composed a list of the stuff that you really need to get your jewelry making off and running and letting your creative juices start to flow.
Jewelry Making Essentials:
1) So, this one is pretty obvious but you will need an assortment of beads (glass beads are preferable)
2) A container to organize your beads in. (you don't want to have your beads unorganized which can make for not a good experience)
3) Wire and lots of it. (you can use stretchy cord but they have a tendency to explode)
4) Tools (bead crimper, wire cutters, & needle nose pliers)
5) Findings (clasps and jump rings)
6) Crimp beads
7) Bead Palette
So that is pretty much it, I will post pictures at the bottom and where I bought them. You might be thinking that its expensive to make jewelry and I'll be honest, at the beginning it sort of is. But I have some tips so you can save money and not break the bank so much.
Tip #1: Hobby Lobby almost always has beads and jewelry 50% off. Never buy things full price

Tip #3: Shop at Walmart. They have an aisle devoted to crafting and they sell glass beads and findings.

Cupcakes!

Ok so as Cari mentoned we recently got into making itmes out of polimer clay. I saw a video on YouTube on how to make cupcakes from polimer clay. So, I decided I wanted to try to make some. I think they turned out great and am very pleased with them. They will be listed shortly in our Etsy shop. I'll post a link soon! :D

Hi it's Cari

Hi everyone. My name is Cari. (Koren's Sister) This is my first time to blog on our new blog! So, I've discovered this wonderful product that I guess I never really knew existed. It's clay you can bake at home! I thought it was the coolest thing ever. I've been reading all about it. And watching videos online about it. I thought with all clay you had to fire it in a special oven. So, I'm going to buy some polymer clay and try it out this weekend. I'm very excited! I can't wait to get creating with it. I have all these ideas for it. I'll will be posting pictures on here so check back for them!! :-)

Learning How To Make Felt Animals.....

So the title says it all, i'm learning how to design and make felt animals. After seeing some of the really cool shops that sell them on http://www.etsy.com I got inspired to make some of my own. I made this really cute cat head only to have the wiskers and eyes fall of and the dog steal it. (He really likes it even though its pink! lol) Then I ventured off and made this creature that looks like half bear and half owl, (was trying to make a cat) and when I finally got around to stuffing the thing it ripped apart at the seams and the limbs were too small to stuff stuffing in them. Well I guess its a trial and error process, even though I seem to be having more errors. Hopefully I'll make something that I am actually proud of and maybe I'll post a picture here too.

This is my very first post on the Caroline Pines Designs blog! Its exciting. Well let me tell you a little bit about our shop and who we are.
About Us:
Well, my name is Koren and my sister and I (Cari) just opened our own Etsy shop (http://carolinepinesdesigns.etsy.com). We love to make crafts and we thought, "hey why not make a little bit of money doing what we love?". So.... we opened an Etsy shop and within a week already had a sale. This is a fun and exciting adventure and we just wanted to share it. I love to try new things and see what comes of it.
